Summer Camps 2024

Intro to Natural Dyeing: Indigo, Shibori, and Clay Resist Printing

June 11 - 13, Greenville County Museum of Art
10 am - 1 pm

Ages 8-12

Join Charleston fiber artist Kristy Bishop in our exploration of the vibrant world of natural dyes. We are surrounded by plants that may seem ordinary, but with some knowledge they can yield lightfast, permanent, and brilliant colors.  We will explore shibori tie-dye techniques using indigo, cochineal, osage orange for the entire color spectrum.  Campers will use a clay paste resist, as well as screen printing with natural dyes, to create patterns and imagery on fabric.

All materials are included, but we’ll also provide a list of items students can bring to dye, paint and print on if they’d like to take on more personalized projects.
